Authorities at the Port of Dover could announce a decision this month on the possibility of a new ferry service to Dieppe in northern France.
It was confirmed recently that the Dover Harbour Board had received an application from LD Lines to operate the new crossing from Dover to Dieppe early in the new year.
The application is currently being consulted upon and evaluated in discussion with port users and a decision is likely to be reached some time in November.
LD Lines has already received full approval from the Port of Dover for the introduction of a new ferry service to Boulogne, which will begin carrying passengers on July 1st next year.
The company also sails to Dieppe from Newhaven and to Le Havre from Portsmouth and Rosslare.
When LD Lines launches its new services next year, it will join the likes of P&O Ferries, SeaFrance and Norfolkline, all of which sail from Dover to ports including Calais and Dunkerque.
