Portsmouth ferry trips in May will offer holidaymakers the opportunity to visit A Celebration of Steam, which will take place for the fourth year running at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
The event will feature displays of all types of steam engine, an opportunity to see the first complete steam-powered factory in the world, the Block Mills, and a sausage and ale festival.
People planning ferry trips to or from Portsmouth can pay a visit to the dockyard on May 9th or 10th to be part of the celebration.
Visitors will be able to learn about the role that the dockyard played in the 18th and 19th centuries, when it was reportedly the greatest industrial complex in the world.
Children will be kept entertained by Ivor the Engine, who will be joined by characters including Idris the Dragon and Bluebell the Donkey, while older visitors may be interested in seeing HMS Warrior 1860, SS Osborne and other ships.
Brittany Ferries, P&O Ferries and LD Lines are among the ferry companies that operate from Portsmouth, with routes linking the port to destinations including St Malo, Bilbao and Le Havre.
