Portsmouth ferry port has welcomed the news that
Brittany Ferries will offer more services to Spain this year.
The operator will use its new luxury vessel, Cap Finistere, to operate additional sailings on the Portsmouth to Santander ferry route from March.
British travellers will be offered a choice of four weekly ferries to Spain with
Brittany Ferries, three from Portsmouth and one from Plymouth.
Martin Putnam, manager of Portsmouth ferry port, said: "This is a massive vote of confidence in Portsmouth as the key hub for
Brittany Ferries in the UK.
"We saw a great customer response to Brittany's Santander service, and expect this success to continue with the additional two sailings a week."
The acquisition of the Cap Finistere vessel will also allow
Brittany Ferries to boost its Portsmouth to Cherbourg ferry link, with three return crossings set to be made available on the route every week.
People interested in visiting France can also take ferries to Caen, St Malo and Roscoff with the company.
