Portsmouth ferry port has encouraged travellers to pay a visit to northern Spain to discover the region's "secret costas".
As part of an initiative to showcase a different destination that is easily reached by ferry every week during the summer holidays, the port said that Spain's north is home to "vibrant cities and glorious countryside".
Holidaymakers can reach the area by taking
ferries from Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao with
Brittany Ferries, which also operates ferries from Plymouth to Santander.
Destinations to visit include La Coruna, which boasts plenty of beaches for families and nightlife spots for young travellers, and San Sebastian, which is famous for its tapas bars.
In Santiago de Compostela, visitors can see the stunning cathedral that has been a pilgrimage site for centuries.
Furthermore, northern Spain will be entertaining its guests with several events this summer, including the International Festival of Santander, which will feature music and dance events until August 26th.
Travellers can also take
ferries to France from Portsmouth with
LD Lines and other operators.
