'Prepare for snow' talks to be held across UK | | | | 18 September 2008 | Brits planning self-drive ski holidays to France and other winter sports trips this year will be able to attend a number of informative 'prepare for snow' talks in the autumn. These discussions, hosted by the Ski Club of Great Britain and sports retailer Snow+Rock, will cover everything from off-piste safety and avalanche awareness to fitness and skiing technique. The first event that people planning ski holidays will be able to attend will be in Manchester, at the Chill Factore Snow+Rock store on October 28th, where ski instructor Warren Smith will talk about fitness and the physical aspects of skiing. Mr Smith will also be in the Kensington Snow+Rock store in London on October 29th to speak on the same subjects. The three other talks in the series will be held in Port Solent on November 6th, London on November 11th and Bristol on November 12th. These events will be hosted by the Henry's Avalanche Talk and will focus on safety, using a similar format to discussions that the group has hosted in Val d'Isere and Chamonix in the past. Brits planning self-drive ski holidays to France can begin their journey with ferry crossings to Calais, Dieppe or any other French ports before heading to the country's south-eastern region, which is home to resorts such as Meribel, Courchevel and Tignes. |
