Isle of Man ferry passengers will have a good chance of seeing some dolphins on their visit to the island following record sightings of the mammals recently.
The island's tourist board announced that some 150 bottlenose dolphins were seen in the waters across Douglas Bay last week.
This pod, which is the biggest single group of dolphins seen off the island since records began, was sighted again this week.
While it is unusual to see dolphin pods of such a large size, it is not uncommon to see the creatures in smaller numbers off the Isle of Man.
During 2007 alone, there were approximately 604 reported viewings of whales and dolphins, with some 1,700 total sightings on the island's records.
People planning Isle of Man ferry trips can expect to see a number of other aquatic animals during their visit to the island, including basking sharks, seals and porpoises.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company provides regular ferry crossings to the island from Liverpool and Heysham on the British mainland and from Belfast and Dublin in Ireland.
