Anyone who wants to experience a relaxed way of life should consider taking
ferries from Portsmouth to Santander, as Spain offers a great laid-back lifestyle.
Director of NotesinSpanish.com Ben Curtis explained that one of the first things people will realise is how late meals are.
It is not unusual for lunch to be taken after 2pm, he pointed out, while families tend not to sit down for their evening meal until 9pm or later.
As for meeting with friends on a Saturday night, areas will tend not to come to life until after 10pm.
Mr Curtis continued: "It's easy to get here and spend your time in expat-run bars with other expats, but you won't see much of the real Spain like that."
Ferries from Portsmouth to Santander are operated by
Brittany Ferries, which offers up to three crossings a week taking around 24 hours to complete.
