Lots of Britons will enjoy good food in Spain after catching
ferries from Portsmouth to Santander, but an expert has suggested there are ways travellers can enhance the experience.
Having the right wine for each kind of Spanish dish is one of these and food expert Maria Jose Sevilla said paella is the best food to have - being correctly served with red meat rather than white.
She added: "Basically, I think a delicious rose - particular in the summer months, maybe from Navarra, is the thing to drink."
While Rose and paella is a good combination, the wines of the country are in general very good accompaniments to meals, Ms Sevilla stated.
And good northern wines include Galician Albarino, which she said is "delicious with seafood".
Ferries may be the transport of choice for more visitors to Spain after easyJet recently revealed it is reducing its services to the country and closing its hub at Madrid Airport.
