People with a passion for horticulture might be interested in booking a ferry crossing with SeaFrance this year to visit some of the scenic gardens found in the province of Picardy.
The company, which operates regular daily
ferries from Dover to Calais, recently recommended a number of locations in the region where visitors can see a range of beautiful blooms.
Holidaymakers can head to the heart of the Authie valley to see the Valloires gardens, which are situated at the foot of a 17th century Cistercian abbey.
More than 5,000 varieties of mainly Asian flowers and plants are on view at the site, many of which appear in an area that is designed to appeal to all five of the senses.
Another attraction that comes recommended from
SeaFrance is Vendangeoir d'Orgeval, a three-tier garden located in the grounds of an 18th century wine grower's manor.
Guests can see roses, irises and clematis, as well as a selection of old furniture from owner Nathalie Vincon's antiques shop.
P&O Ferries also serves the
Dover to Calais ferry route, while
LD Lines and
Norfolkline offer
ferries from Dover to Boulogne and Dunkerque respectively.
