Travellers will be catching
ferries from Harwich to Hook of Holland with
Stena Line towards the end of July to visit Rotterdam's Summer Carnival.
The carnival will consist of three days of colourful events and celebrations on July 19th, 24th and 25th.
Highlights of the festival include the election of the carnival queen on July 19th, with candidates judged by the public on the basis of various performances and speeches.
On July 24th, thousands of spectators gather to see the Battle of the Drums, which features hundreds of percussionists and other performers trying to outdo each other on a stage on Rotterdam's Coolsingel.
The Summer Carnival reaches its conclusion on July 25th with a giant street parade and party that attracts some 900,000 people to Rotterdam.
Stena Line's
ferries from Harwich to Hook of Holland and the P&O Ferries service from Hull to Rotterdam both offer easy access to the location where the carnival is held.
DFDS Seaways also provides a travel option with its
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam.
