People looking for a memorable way to celebrate Christmas this year might want to take ferries to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight to experience a popular event that is held in the fishing village every year.
The 2009 Yarmouth Christmas Festival will take place between December 10th and 12th.
Wightlink provides ferries to Yarmouth, a small fishing village on the northern coast of the island, from Lymington.
The town comes to life during the festive celebration, with a seasonal farmers market taking place in Pier Square and lights illuminated to add a magical feel to the evenings.
On Friday, December 11th, visitors will be able to join a guided walk around Yarmouth that offers an insight into some of the ghostly stories from the village's past.
The festival will be brought to a close the following day when Father Christmas, a school choir, the Salvation Army and others gather around the tree in the centre of town to sing songs, drink wine and enjoy some seasonal food.
People planning to visit the Isle of Wight this Christmas also have the option of taking ferries to Fishbourne or Ryde from Portsmouth with
Wightlink.
