The Glenfiddich Distillery in Scotland as been named among the best in the world for a tour by US broadcaster CNN.
Visitors catching ferries from Belfast to Troon may be keen to follow the tips by the channel, which recommended the Dufftown venue and noted that its sister distillery the Balvenie is just over the road, meaning those who want to can have two visits in a day.
It also hailed the Macallan Distillery on Speyside, noting that it sources some of its barley in a field on the estate, which also has a private boat available for hire in the salmon fishing season.
While several of the CNN list were US-based distilleries, it also noted two Irish ones as among the best - the Jameson distillery in Dublin, plus the Old Bushmills Distillery in Country Antrim.
Glenfiddich fans may consider the early autumn to be a good time to visit Dufftown, as the autumn Speyside Whisky Festival takes place from September 27th to October 1st.
