SeaFrance Moliere completes first cross-Channel sailing | | | | 26 August 2008 | SeaFrance has announced that the Moliere made her first commercial Dover-Calais crossing on August 19th.
The vessel, which is the first cross-Channel ferry measuring more than 200 metres in length, is initially being used as a freighter and will operate three return trips a day.
Passengers will be able to catch Dover-Calais ferry crossings on the Moliere in September following the completion of customer amenities.
Eudes Riblier, chairman of the board of SeaFrance, explained that the ship will be able to carry some 1,200 passengers in September when modifications and inspections are complete.
At present, the SeaFrance Rodin, Berlioz and Cezanne vessels are operating five ferry crossings a day. The introduction of the Moliere will boost SeaFrance's capacity by some 15 per cent.
SeaFrance is currently the only French ferry operator on the Dover-Calais route, a crossing that is also provided by P&O Ferries. |
