Seafrance has encouraged family groups looking for a fun but affordable getaway this year to consider a camping holiday in France.
The ferry operator described the camping option as "the low-cost, high-fun way to see France" and said that it offers an ideal way to take an overseas holiday without spending too much.
A number of campsites were given the Seafrance seal of approval, including Huttopia Versailles near Paris, which features accommodation ranging from huts to fixed tents for hire, as well as a swimming pool, restaurant and internet access.
One of the best options for family groups, according to the cross channel ferry company, is Les Tipis du Bonheur de Vivre near Le Mans in the Pays de la Loire region, which has a Sioux Indian theme and invites guests to try out bows and arrows and go fishing.
Domaine du Haut des Bluches near La Bresse in eastern France boasts a stunning location in the Vosges mountain range, where holidaymakers can go hiking and horse riding or enjoy a relaxing round of golf.
Seafrance offers up to 15
ferries from Dover to Calais every day. Alternative travel options for people heading to France include the Dover to Dunkerque ferry service operated by Norfolkline and LD Lines
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre.
