Music fans will be taking ferries to the Isle of Wight this year to see Sir Paul McCartney live in concert.
It was confirmed yesterday (March 2nd) that the Beatles legend will be the headline act at the Isle of Wight Festival on June 13th, the final day of the event.
People who get their hands on tickets for the festival can travel to the island with
Wightlink, which offers
ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and Ryde.
Sir Paul was part of one of the most successful bands in music history in the 1960s and has since enjoyed a successful solo career.
Following the confirmation of his appearance on the Isle of Wight, he said: "I always remember hearing such great things about this festival and it has such a sense of history with the likes of Jimi Hendrix playing there the first time round.
"This will be my first show on the Isle of Wight and I'm looking forward to a rollicking night of rock 'n' roll."
The Isle of Wight Festival will take place from June 11th to 13th and will also feature headline performances by Jay-Z and the Strokes.
Visitors can take
ferries from Lymington to Yarmouth with
Wightlink or alternatively go from Southsea to Ryde with
Hovertravel.
