People with a passion for contemporary art might be interested in taking a ferry to Liverpool this year to see a new sculpture at the Walker Art Gallery.
The Dancer, a new bronze piece by Emma Rodgers that stands at a height of eight feet, will go on display at the institute on William Brown Street from April 28th to July 6th.
It is a depiction of Sophie Paratte, one of the first graduates from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.
People based in Ireland can see the work by taking a ferry to Liverpool from Dublin with
P&O Ferries or
Norfolkline Irish Sea.
The sculpture is part of the exhibition Emma Rodgers: From Sketch to Sculpture, which includes a number of preparatory sketches and photographs that offer an insight into the creative process behind the finished work.
Introducing the piece, Rodgers said: "As an artist I am interested in energy, confrontation, curiosity, interaction and movement.
"With The Dancer I seek to capture a moment that conveys her grace and poise while simultaneously conveying the physical exertion on the body."
Travellers coming from Northern Ireland can use the Belfast to Liverpool ferry route, which is served by
Norfolkline, while the Steam Packet Company offers ferries to Liverpool from the Isle of Man.
