Amsterdam ferry breaks could prove popular with art lovers this year as one of the city's top museums holds a major exhibition.
While the restoration of the main building takes place, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam will present a display of some of the finest pieces in its permanent collection.
Based in the museum's Philips wing, the exhibition provides an opportunity to see some of the highlights of the so-called Golden Age of Dutch art, which was defined by figures such as Rembrandt and Vermeer.
People interested in seeing the display can catch ferries to Amsterdam from Newcastle with
DFDS Seaways.
Visitors can also explore the rest of the Rijksmuseum to see what other exhibits and displays are being held this year.
At the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol branch, an exhibition of seven paintings of birds by Melchior d'Hondecoeter will be open until October 26th.
As well as sailing directly to Amsterdam with
DFDS Seaways, travellers planning to catch ferries to Holland this year can travel from Hull to Rotterdam with P&O Ferries or use the Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry route operated by
Stena Line.
