Fans of high-octane sports will be catching Isle of Wight ferries this month to see a powerboat race.
The Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat contest will be held from August 27th to 30th this year.
People interested in attending the event can catch ferries to Fishbourne or Ryde from Portsmouth with
Wightlink for a short drive along the coast to Cowes.
More than 80 boats are set to take part in the race, with the route from Cowes to Torquay in south-east England expected to be completed in less than four hours, weather permitting.
The Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat contest was one of the first offshore races in Europe and is considered one of the sport's toughest challenges.
There will be several other maritime events taking place in the Isle of Wight over the coming months, such as the Challenge Cup Regatta from September 10th to 13th.
In addition to its Fishbourne and Ryde ferry services,
Wightlink offers ferries to Lymington from Yarmouth.
Hovertravel also provides access to the Isle of Wight with its route from Southsea to Ryde.
