Shanklin to host Christmas festival | | | | 18 November 2008 | Isle of Wight visitors looking for something to get them into a festive mood should head to Shanklin on the first Saturday in December for the town's Christmas festival.
There will be all sorts of entertainment on offer at this event, including live music, with two shows by the Five O'clock Shadows as well as performances by local choirs.
Visitors with young children will be able to keep them entertained at a funfair or on an inflatable assault course, while Father Christmas will be taking present requests in his grotto.
People planning ferry trips to the Isle of Wight in December will have plenty of festive events to attend, including 'Santa specials' organised by the island's Steam Railway company on the first three weekends of the month.
As well as the usual steam train rides, visitors will be entertained by magic shows and Father Christmas will be handing out gifts to children.
Ferry crossings to the island are provided by Red Funnel and Wightlink from Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington. |
