Short breaks for pets with DFDS Seaways
With National Pet Month taking place until 5 May, it seems now is the ideal time to book a break with DFDS Seaways and its PETS Travel Scheme. The leading cruise ferry operator can accommodate pets on the Newcastle - Amsterdam daily route where they spend the crossings in the onboard spacious kennels. It is not just cats and dogs that can travel. DFDS Seaways also allows pet owners to travel with rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, mice, rats and tortoises.
Andrew Crowe, UK Sales Manager for DFDS Seaways commented: "Taking a break can be rather difficult when you have to consider leaving the family pet behind. Pets can travel with DFDS Seaways on the Newcastle Amsterdam route when owners travel with their own transport. "Not only is this service appealing for families interested in a short break or a holiday in Europe and beyond, but also for people who are moving abroad and are in need of relocating the whole family. We're sure the PETS Travel Scheme will prove very successful throughout 2008, particularly as the summer holidays are just around the corner!"
Pets cannot be booked online or added to an online booking. In addition to a valid DEFRA approved veterinary certificate showing that pets have been micro chipped, vaccinated and blood tested for antibodies to rabies, owners need to provide a pet passport. Also needed is a valid DEFRA approved certificate showing the pet has been treated against ticks and tapeworm not less than 24 hours, and not more than 48 hours, prior check-in for your return to the UK.
