SpeedFerries scoops top travel award

SpeedFerries has won a major national travel award.

The Dover-based firm has been voted Best Ferry Company by the readers of The Guardian, The Observer and Guardian Unlimited at the publishing group's 21st Travel Awards.

A spokesman for the company said: "The scoring of these awards is designed to reward quality, rather than quantity.

"So it is not surprising, therefore, that SpeedFerries, a small family run company, has outstripped the stiffest competition from long-established rivals in the industry throughout the UK.

"Once again, SpeedFerries would very much like to thank its customers who took the time to vote, and whose loyalty enables SpeedFerries to continue to successfully provide the friendly and efficient service which they enjoy and still offer the best value Channel-crossing."

The company runs a low cost, fast boat service between Dover and Boulogne.

SpeedFerries is a limited company, registered in England and founded by the Danish entrepreneur, Curt Stavis.
