Dover, UK-based low-cost ferry operator
SpeedFerries has at last arranged for a second vessel to join its Boulogne service in spring 2007.
The company has been looking for more than a year. A company spokeswoman confirmed that a 91-m Incat has been arranged to commence operation when SpeedFerry One goes in for drydocking. " A two-ship service will commence before Easter," she said.
The spokesman declined to name the ferry but Fairplay understands that it will be a vessel currently operating with MasterFerries between Norway and Denmark.
It is known that negotiations were underway between the two companies earlier this year.
SpeedFerries is also talking to at least three other companies about operating additional services and is putting together a £10M investment project that may be linked to the second ferry or new routes.
SpeedFerries, which commenced operations in 2004, is expected to break even this year.
