Spirit of Tasmania ferry sold for $111m
Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon has revealed his government sold off the Spirit of Tasmania III for $ 111 million.
Mr Lennon told parliament on Tuesday the ferry was sold to Mediterranean operator Corsica Sardinia Ferries for 65 million euros ($ 111 million).
The ferry that plied the Sydney-to-Devonport route was on the market for less than a month after Mr Lennon's June 5 announcement that his government would ditch the loss-making service and sell the vessel.
"This is a very good price for the ship," he said.
The ferry, bought for $ 105 million in 2003, will leave Sydney for the final time on August 27.
