Passengers travelling on ferries with the
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company have raised £14,000 for the Rob Vine Fund.
The money was gathered through donations made on the operator's ferry crossings during this year's TT motorcycle race season.
It will go towards the purchase of medical and rescue equipment that is used on the island's TT circuits.
The
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has been collecting money for the Rob Vine Fund since 1997 and has raised some £140,000 over the past 12 years.
Mark Woodward, chief executive of the ferry operator, said: "We are delighted to be able to show our support for such a worthwhile charity. The work they do is vital and without their good work these events would not be able to take place."
Captain Allan Albiston, the coordinator of the charity collections, said the passenger donations make the
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company the single biggest contributor to the Rob Vine Fund.
Travellers can catch ferries to the Isle of Man from Liverpool and Heysham with the Steam Packet Company, which also operates Belfast and Dublin ferry services from Douglas.
