The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company recently carried some unusual cargo on one of its ferry crossings to help with preparations for this year's TT motorcycle race events.
Some 800 bales of hay were transported from Heysham to Douglas on the Steam Packet Company's Ben-my-Chree ferry for the Southern 100 Motorcycle Racing Club.
As they were not available on the island, the bales had to be shipped over from the mainland for use in events including the Pre TT Classic and the main TT races on the Billown circuit.
Mark Woodward, chief executive of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, said: "Motorcycle racing on the Billown circuit is important to the Isle of Man and without these hay bales it couldn't take place, so we were more than happy to provide assistance towards the transportation."
Southern 100 Motorcycle Racing Club president Derek Nicholson said the assistance on the Steam Packet Company ferry crossing was "a huge help".
Ferry crossings to the Isle of Man will prove popular among motorcycle racing fans from May 30th this year as the TT festival gets underway.
Following six days of practice sessions, the race week will get underway on June 6th and reach its conclusion on June 13th.
