The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has announced that its ferries from Belfast to Douglas will operate from a new terminal from April 5th.
Belfast ferry port's Albert Quay facility will be the new starting point for the service, offering a newly refurbished passenger lounge, more extensive car marshalling facilities and other provisions.
The Steam Packet Company is making the move from Belfast's Donegall Quay as the terminal is not equipped to handle Manannan, the 96-metre fast craft that will be launching this summer.
Manannan will operate the Douglas to Belfast ferry service during the Isle of Man TT races and the Manx Grand Prix.
Steam Packet Company chief executive Mark Woodward said: "I am pleased to announce the opening of our new facility at Albert Quay and look forward to the start of this season's sailings on the Belfast route. Passengers will benefit from the newly refurbished terminal and there is a significant increase in the vehicle marshalling area."
Joe O'Neill, commercial director at the port of Belfast, added: "Ferry services from Belfast to Douglas in the Isle of Man have been operating for as long as anyone can remember and we're delighted to support the move to a more modern and convenient terminal."
At the end of March, the Steam Packet Company reinstated its fast Douglas to Liverpool ferry service using the ship Snaefell.
