The
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has announced its official support for Dan Kneen, a local motorcycle racing star.
Kneen won the Manx Grand Prix in 2008 and is currently leading the British Supersport Cup.
The Steam Packet Company said that it would help the sportsman "fly the Isle of Man flag on the international stage" by assisting him with transport from the island as he competes across Britain.
Mark Woodward, chief executive of the ferry operator, said: "The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has a long association with motorsport on the Isle of Man and, at a time when we are transporting around 10,000 bikes to TT 2010, it is fitting that we can provide assistance to one of the island's rising stars."
Motorsport fans will be catching
ferries to the Isle of Man with the Steam Packet Company this month for the 2010 TT motorcycle racing event, which will run until June 11th.
The operator provides ferries to Douglas from Liverpool and Heysham and also operates Larne, Belfast and Dublin ferry services from its home port.
