There will soon be more capacity available to people planning to take
ferries from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire with
Stena Line, with the operator announcing that it will launch the HSS Stena Explorer vessel on the route a month early.
The ship can carry up to 1,500 passengers, 200 per cent more than the Stena Lynx ferry currently operating between Holyhead and Dun Laoghaire.
It will begin carrying passengers on the route on May 26th, instead of June 28th as originally planned.
Dermot Cairns, Stena Line's general manager for Irish Sea services, said: "Our decision to bring the HSS Stena Explorer back to the route earlier than planned was influenced by heightened market demand.
"This was due, in part, to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding volcanic ash-related aviation issues."
The vessel will operate one daily round trip on the Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire ferry route from May 26th to September 5th, departing the Welsh port at 10:00 and returning from Ireland at 13:15.
Stena Line also offers
ferries from Holyhead to Dublin and from Fishguard to Rosslare.
