Stena Line has announced that one of its ships will receive a £2 million refit this year as the operator adapts its Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire ferry service.
The Stena Express will be equipped with new onboard facilities in preparation for its arrival on the route.
Currently operating on the Fishguard to Rosslare ferry link, the ship will replace the Stena Explorer between Holyhead and Dublin during the off-peak season.
The Stena Explorer will serve the route from June 28th to September 5th, while the company's two 'superferries' - the Stena Adventurer and Stena Nordica - will continue to operate two daily round trips from Holyhead to Dublin.
Stena Line spokesman Vic Goodwin said: "We are undertaking big investments to improve the facilities and comfort for all customers travelling on our Republic of Ireland routes.
"We are confident that by utilising the superferries, the Stena Express and the Stena Explorer in this flexible way, we will provide passengers with an excellent combination of vessels on the routes between Wales and Ireland."
