People hoping to take a nice holiday this year without breaking the bank have been offered a number of recommendations by ferry operator
Stena Line.
Holidaymakers coming from Northern Ireland can catch ferries to Stranraer from Belfast with
Stena Line to take advantage of a number of options in Scotland.
The ferry operator recommended Auchencairn, about 90 minutes from Stranraer, and the Haven Craig Tara holiday park on the Ayrshire coast.
Those who would prefer a city break have the option of visiting Edinburgh to take in attractions such as the Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace.
Travellers planning to visit northern England this year could consider Bowness-on-Windermere or Whinfell Forest, both of which provide ideal bases for an exploration of the Lake District.
Nigel Tilson, UK communications manager for
Stena Line, said: "Despite the economic downturn, people still need to escape on holiday whether for a weekend or two weeks."
He added: "With special summer savings on Belfast to Stranraer, your perfect summer holiday could be just a couple of hours away."
The company offers a number of other services, including ferries to Dublin from Holyhead and a Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry service.
