Stena Line has revealed that it has invested over £9 million in its ferries operating Irish Sea crossings in recent years.
The Stena Caledonia returned to service on the Stranraer to Belfast ferry route last week following a £1 million refit.
It was the last of eight ships to be given a major refurbishment in the past three months.
Around £2 million was spent on improving the Stena Nordica 'superferry', which operates on the Holyhead to Dublin ferry route, while a similar amount was invested in the Stena Europe, which carries passengers from Fishguard to Rosslare.
Michael McGrath, Stena Line's Irish Sea area director, said: "At Stena Line we are continually investing in our product to exceed customer expectations and give them a pleasurable and comfortable travelling experience.
"We've never been a company to rest on its laurels and this investment in our Irish Sea fleet reflects a desire to continually improve in terms of quality and service reliability."
The operator provides a number of services outside the Irish Sea, including a Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry route that offers access to The Netherlands and other European countries.
