Stena Line is encouraging British holidaymakers to discover some 'hidden gems' this year by catching ferries to Ireland.
The ferry operator has teamed up with Tourism Ireland to launch an advertising campaign highlighting the destination's appeal as well as its ease of access.
Nigel Tilson, UK communications manager for
Stena Line, said that Ireland is "close to home" for British travellers but offers something "completely different" to most destinations.
He added: "Taking the ferry to Ireland makes so much sense. You can bring your car, pack in as much luggage as you like, and then enjoy the freedom to explore once you get there.
"Holidaymakers taking a
Stena Line ferry will be able to travel to Ireland in modern, comfortable surroundings. Onboard they can enjoy good food, free Wi-Fi, movies and indulge in retail therapy."
The 'hidden gems' promoted by
Stena Line include the fishing village of Rathmullan in County Donegal, the Milk Market in Limerick and an island-hopping tour of the west coast.
Stena Line offers ferries to Dublin and Dun Laoghaire from Holyhead and also operates a Fishguard to Rosslare ferry route.
Those planning to visit Northern Ireland can catch ferries to Belfast from Stranraer or travel to Larne from Fleetwood.
