Stena Line has announced that it will make changes to its Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire ferry route this year in order to make the service more efficient.
The HSS Stena Explorer, which until now has operated daily round trips between March and December, will be used during the peak summer season only from June 28th to September 5th.
Outside this period, the route will be served by the Stena Express, which is currently used to provide a fast summer service on
Stena Line's Fishguard to Rosslare ferry link.
Vic Goodwin, director of the Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire ferry route, said the Stena Explorer's schedule is being reduced owing to its high operating costs.
He added: "Operating our fast craft vessels in this flexible manner will also be more cost effective and enable us to work towards getting the route back into an acceptable trading position."
Stena Line also operates ferries to Belfast from Stranraer, as well as a Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry service offering access to mainland Europe.
