Stena Line to help boost Scottish tourism | | | | 29 September 2008 | ferry operator Stena Line has announced a partnership with VisitScotland to appeal to the Ulster tourism market.
Visitors from Northern Ireland brought some £145.53 million in tourism revenue to Scotland last year and the joint initiative is being launched to expand the market further.
The campaign will consist of television and radio advertising, sheet posters, public relations and internet promotions encouraging tourists to take their cars on Stena Line's ferry crossings to Scotland.
Dermot Cairns, the ferry operator's sales manager for the UK and Ireland, said: "We are offering the best value ferry travel whilst promoting the many fantastic sights to see and activities to take part in at this time of year.
"Many people are understandably wary of flying and of travelling long distances at the moment so the trips we are promoting provide the perfect solution for couples and families wanting to get away for less."
Visitors to Scotland can currently make use of the free Adventure Pass, which offers discounts and special offers on 50 activities, sport events and tours throughout the country until May 31st 2009.
Stena Line currently offers ferry crossings from Belfast to Stranraer. It was recently reported that the company is planning to open a new port in west Scotland to host more passengers. |
