A literary festival sponsored by ferry operator
Stena Line will get underway in Scotland later this month.
The Wigtown Book Festival will be held from September 25th to October 4th, bringing some 170 events to the Galloway region in south-west Scotland.
Stena Line provides easy access to this part of the country with its ferries to Stranraer from Belfast, with at least five departures from Northern Ireland every day.
One of the highlights of the Wigtown Book Festival is its line-up of famous attendees, with Iain Banks, Diana Athill, Christopher Brookmyre and Julia Donaldson among the authors who will be appearing at the event this year.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy art exhibitions, theatre productions, live music and a programme of activities designed to keep younger visitors entertained.
P&O Ferries also provides access to south-west Scotland with its Larne to Cairnryan ferry route.
Travellers planning to visit the country's northern isles during their trip can use the Aberdeen to Lerwick ferry route served by
NorthLink Ferries to see Shetland or catch ferries to Stromness on Orkney from Scrabster.
