People planning to take ferries to France and explore Brittany this year can look forward to experiencing an "enchanting" destination, according to Christine Hamilton.
Ms Hamilton recently travelled to the region with
Brittany Ferries, which provides
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo, and reported on her break for the Daily Mail.
She revealed that the holiday started onboard, with a "truly delicious dinner" offering a taste of some of the seafood delights available along France's northern coast.
The writer and her husband then explored St Malo port, visiting the medieval granite walls around the old town and enjoying "spectacular views", before heading along the coast to Paimpol for lunch.
Ms Hamilton recommended several other destinations for people planning to sail with Brittany Ferries and explore north-west France, including Ile de Brehat, which she described as "a must", and the area of Finistere.
Alongside its Portsmouth to St Malo ferry route, the company provides access to Brittany with regular
ferries from Plymouth to Roscoff.
Travellers can also take
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre with
LD Lines to get to northern France, while those based in Ireland can sail from Rosslare to Cherbourg with
Irish Ferries.
