People with a passion for sailing might be interested in taking a ferry to Ireland this year to be part of a special event in Cork.
The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race will come to the city on July 1st, with all ten teams competing in the event set to spend eight days in Ireland before setting off again on July 9th.
They will arrive in Cork following a long journey from Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada.
People who would like to see the yachts as they arrive or depart can take
ferries from Fishguard to Rosslare with
Stena Line and drive west to get to Cork.
Irish Ferries also operates a Pembroke to Rosslare ferry service.
There will be all sorts of special events and celebrations taking place in Cork between July 1st and 9th to mark the arrival of the race.
Following their short stay in Ireland, the teams will set off to the port of Ijmuiden in Holland before heading to Hull for the finish on July 17th.
Travellers planning a trip to Ireland this year also have the option of taking
ferries from Liverpool to Dublin with
Norfolkline or
P&O Irish Sea, while both Irish Ferries and Stena Line offer
ferries from Holyhead to Dublin.
