People who enjoy seeking out new experiences on holiday might be interested in taking a ferry to Ireland this year to visit Dromoland Castle.
The luxury hotel recently launched a falconry school where guests can learn to handle and release Harris hawks.
Bird expert and naturalist David Atkinson leads the sessions and teaches participants more about the fascinating creatures and the role they play in countryside conservation.
Dromoland Castle encourages visitors to travel by sea - with
Stena Line offering
ferries from Fishguard to Rosslare as well as
ferries from Holyhead to Dublin - and bring their car to discover the "incredible scenery" of County Clare.
People taking part in the falconry sessions can 'cast' the birds into the air and recall them to their hand.
The historic hotel offers several other activities, including horse riding, cycling, clay shooting, archery and walking in the 410-acre estate.
Travellers heading to Ireland can also take
ferries from Pembroke to Rosslare with
Irish Ferries, while
P&O and
Norfolkline/
DFDS Seaways offer
ferries from Liverpool to Dublin.
