Travellers planning to take ferries to Mallorca for a late summer holiday this year might notice a buzz of excitement around the island as it prepares to welcome two celebrated live performers.
Sir Elton John and Andrea Bocelli will appear at the ONO football stadium in Palma on September 4th.
The pop star and opera singer will be accompanied by 72 musicians from the Balearic Symphony Orchestra and 42 singers from the University Choir of the Balearic Islands.
Holidaymakers can reach Mallorca from mainland Spain by taking ferries to Palma from Barcelona, Denia or Valencia with
Balearia, while
Acciona Trasmediterranea sails to the island from Barcelona, Valencia, Ibiza and Menorca.
Sir Elton and Bocelli have collectively sold more than 300 million records around the world and established themselves as two of the leading artists in their respective genres.
Tickets are selling fast for their forthcoming show, which will be staged in a stadium with a capacity of 34,000 people.
Palma is also home to a number of permanent attractions, such as La Seu cathedral.
Travellers setting off from the UK can begin their Spanish adventure by taking
ferries from Portsmouth to Santander with
Brittany Ferries, while P&O will continue to offer
ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao until the end of September.
