Motorists taking their cars on ferries to Spain may be pleased to hear that the country enjoys the second cheapest petrol prices in Europe.
Spain came in at number two for both unleaded fuel and diesel, beaten only by Luxembourg, in a report by the Post Office.
Unleaded petrol costs around 130 pence per litre in Spain, compared to 136 pence per litre in the UK, meaning tourists can make savings.
Indeed, the cost of travelling 1,000 miles in an unleaded vehicle in Spain is £196.68, while in the UK it's £205.91.
Drivers with diesel vehicles pay 121 pence per litre in Spain, compared to 140 pence in the UK, at a cost of £183.57 per 1,000 miles as opposed to £211.51 on home soil.
Direct ferries to Spain are available with
Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao and Plymouth to Santander.
By taking their cars, passengers can then drive into central Spain or to the resorts on the south coast.
