Families planning holidays during the February half term can enjoy plenty of entertainment if they take a ferry to the Isle of Wight.
According to the island's tourism board there are numerous activities and events taking place for adults and children alike.
For example, the Fairway Sports Centre is hosting a week of February half term sports activities, including football, cricket, cycling, dance and gymnastics.
And for creative types, Quay Arts in Newport is running a week of crafts and arts, with hip hop dance sessions and jewellery-making classes on offer.
If weather permits, there are numerous biking trails for families to enjoy around the island, as well as watersport instruction at the UK Sailing Academy in Cowes.
The Isle of Wight Tourism Board pointed out that all of this and more is just a short ferry ride from Southampton, Portsmouth, Lymington or Southsea.
Both
Wightlink and
Red Funnel Ferries operate crossings between the UK mainland and the Isle of Wight.
