Take an Isle of Man ferry break to escape 'election fever'

Take an Isle of Man ferry break to escape 'election fever'
Isle of Man ferry breaks could be the ideal option for people hoping to escape the "election fever" that is set to grip Britain over the coming weeks.

The Isle of Man Department of Tourism revealed that the destination will become Britain's only "election-free zone" up to May 6th.

Travellers planning to get away from the media hype and political campaigning associated with the election can take ferries to the Isle of Man with the Steam Packet Company, which sails from Liverpool and Heysham to Douglas.

Isle of Man director of tourism Rod Nipper said: "The island provides a perfect retreat for a long weekend or a longer break with the family, so you can return home fully refreshed."

People who enjoy outdoor activities can explore some of the cycling itineraries available on the island, such as the Ramsey trail and the Port Erin route.

There are also over 500 miles of paths to cover on foot, which take in some of the destination's spectacular scenery and coastline.

The Steam Packet Company also provides links to Ireland with its ferries to Dublin, Belfast and Larne from the Isle of Man.
