Take ferries to Belfast for the Base festival | | | | 29 January 2010 | Culture vultures will be taking ferries to Belfast next month to attend an international street art festival.
In a bid to avoid the risk of bad weather, the city council confirmed that Base will be held in Ulster Hall on February 20th and 21st.
The event aims to "take street art out of the cold", showcasing a variety of work by some of the most talented and respected underground artists currently working in Europe.
People interested in seeing some of the unique pieces on show can take ferries to Belfast from Liverpool with Norfolkline Irish Sea or use the Stranraer to Belfast ferry route, which is served by Stena Line.
Adam Turkington, coordinator of the winter outing of the festival, said: "No one wants to hang around outside in the typical Belfast wind and rain so, with Winter Base, we decided to build streets inside so everyone can enjoy the painting, music and market and keep warm at the same time!
"It's a truly original concept and we have amazing artists from all over Ireland, Britain and Europe so it's going to be a fantastic weekend."
People planning to visit Northern Ireland can also take ferries to Larne from Fleetwood with Stena Line or from Cairnryan with P&O Ferries.
