People who enjoy seeking out new cultural experiences might be interested in taking
ferries to France this summer to attend the Aix-en-Provence Festival.
The event, which is one of France's longest-running cultural traditions, will start with a performance by the Trisha Brown Dance Company on June 4th, which will be followed by the Parades art and music fair on June 26th.
On July 1st, the programme will get underway in earnest, with a number of events scheduled over the following three weeks up to July 21st.
Those interested in experiencing the festival can take
ferries from Dover to Calais with
P&O Ferries or
Seafrance, or alternatively travel on
Norfolkline's Dover to Dunkerque ferry route, before heading south to Aix-en-Provence.
Highlights of the main programme this year will include a number of performances of the Mozart opera Don Giovanni and Christoph Willibald Gluck's Alceste at the Theatre de l'Archeveche.
The festival will also include a production of the ballet Pygmalion at the Grand Theatre de Provence and a concert by the London Symphony Orchestra at the same venue on July 18th.
Other travel options for people visiting France this year include
LD Lines'
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre and
Brittany Ferries' Caen and Cherbourg ferry services from Portsmouth.
