Holidaymakers planning to take ferries to France and visit the country's south coast this year will have the opportunity to see some memorable sights in Cap d'Agde.
The popular seaside resort will host the seventh edition of its annual Sand Sculpture Festival from May 22nd to 24th.
People interested in attending the event can take ferries to Le Havre from Portsmouth with
LD Lines or travel on
Brittany Ferries' Plymouth to Roscoff ferry route and drive south to the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
Participants in the festival are restricted to using sand, seawater and materials washed up by the sea, which they craft into large sculptures that appear to have been hewn from rock.
Several other events are arranged in Cap d'Agde during the festival, including prize-giving ceremonies and parties.
The resort is one of many popular locations that holidaymakers can visit in Languedoc-Roussillon and on France's south coast.
People planning a trip to the country this year can also take ferries to Caen, Cherbourg or St Malo from Portsmouth with Brittany Ferries, while
Irish Ferries offers a Roscoff to Rosslare ferry service.
Another option is travelling on
P&O Ferries' Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry route and driving across the Spanish border into southern France.
