Ferries to Ireland will be more popular than unusual in March as revellers head to the country to experience its St Patrick's Day festivities.
One of the most famous and popular celebrations of the saint's day is the festival that takes place in Dublin, which is set to run from March 12th to 17th next year.
Travellers can reach the Irish capital by taking ferries to Dublin from Liverpool with P&O Ferries or
Norfolkline Irish Sea, while
Stena Line and
Irish Ferries serve the Holyhead to Dublin ferry route.
All sorts of events take place throughout the city during the festival, including a vibrant and colourful parade, which attracted over 675,000 visitors in 2009.
There will also be comedy shows, live music, film screenings, family events and much more for visitors to enjoy.
St Patrick's Day celebrations are held in other destinations throughout Ireland, with Belfast set to host a carnival in 2010 and Galway providing the setting for a giant walking parade.
People interested in visiting the country can take ferries to Rosslare from Pembroke with
Stena Line and
Irish Ferries.
Another option is Belfast ferry port, which is linked to Liverpool and Stranraer by
Norfolkline Irish Sea and
Stena Line respectively.
