Ferries to Ireland are set to give families the opportunity to join in the celebrations of the Galway International Oyster Festival at the end of summer.
Straddling the banks of the River Corrib, fishing has long played a major role in the life of the city of Galway.
And while the industry's role in the local economy may have declined over recent years, the Oyster Festival has only got bigger and better.
Interested individuals can take a
Holyhead to Dublin ferry service and then continue by road to Galway for the celebrations, which will take place between September 24th and September 27th.
As well as being able to sample some of the best and freshest seafood in the world, the festival will also give visitors the chance to join locals at live Irish music performances and dance concerts.
In addition, the festival will include the annual Guinness Irish Oyster Opening Championships, the Elegant Lady competition and a Gala Ball.
As well as the annual festival, visitors taking ferries to Ireland and heading to the city of Galway can enjoy a strong cultural scene, with the city also hosting an annual Arts Festival and a Film Festival, while its sea-going past is celebrated with the yearly Volvo Ocean Race.
