Take ferries to Ireland to see a 'natural wonder'

Take ferries to Ireland to see a 'natural wonder'
People catching ferries to Ireland this year will have the chance to visit the Cliffs of Moher, a location that is in the running to be named one of the seven wonders of the natural world.

The New7Wonders Foundation is currently running a campaign to decide the seven most important and awe-inspiring natural sites on the planet.

This week, the organisation announced its 28 finalists, a group that included the Cliffs of Moher along with the Black Forest in Germany, the Matterhorn in Switzerland and other locations.

People catching ferries to Ireland should head to the south-western edge of the Burren area in County Clare to visit the Cliffs of Moher.

Comprised mainly of shale and sandstone, the cliffs are hundreds of millions of years old and provide a habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.

People planning to visit Ireland can choose from a number of travel options, including the Liverpool to Dublin ferry route served by P&O Ferries and Norfolkline Irish Sea and Stena Line's ferries to Fishguard from Rosslare.
