Travellers planning to take ferries to Scotland for a short break this spring might have the opportunity to attend an event celebrating the country's national drink.
The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival will take place in north-east Scotland from April 29th to May 3rd.
People based in Northern Ireland can reach the country by taking
ferries from Belfast to Stranraer with
Stena Line or using
P&O Ferries' Larne to Cairnryan ferry service.
The festival will feature around 230 events - many of which are free to attend - catering for seasoned whisky connoisseurs as well as those with a more casual interest.
Highlights of the forthcoming programme include ceilidh dances at The Square in Aberlour and Brodie Castle, a vintage vehicle show in the market town of Forres, kilt-making demonstrations and art exhibitions.
There will be a number of special activities arranged for the festival, including canoeing trips on the river Spey and train journeys on the Keith and Dufftown Heritage Railway.
Travellers visiting northern Scotland this year can extend their trip to the island of Orkney by taking ferries from Aberdeen to Kirkwall with
NorthLink Ferries.
