Travellers planning to take ferries to Scotland to visit Edinburgh this year will have the opportunity to explore Camera Obscura and World of Illusions following a major refurbishment.
The site, which is the country's oldest purpose-built visitor attraction, is currently undergoing a £1.2 million expansion, which is scheduled for completion in June.
People based in Northern Ireland can reach Scotland by taking ferries to Stranraer from Belfast with
Stena Line, while P&O Ferries offers a Larne to Cairnryan ferry service.
The redevelopment of Camera Obscura will give the attraction an extra 200 square metres of exhibition space, which will host new optical tricks and illusions including a distorting Ames room and a collection of rare Rubin's vases.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy panoramic views across Edinburgh from a new glass walkway.
Andrew Johnson, director and manager of Camera Obscura, said: "Year on year, our unique hands-on exhibits amuse and captivate people of all ages and nationalities.
"We have had much fun sourcing new exhibits, many of which have been suggested by our visitors. From a vortex tunnel of light to a mirrored maze, there will be something to surprise and delight everyone."
Scotland is also accessible to people travelling from mainland Europe via
Norfolkline's Zeebrugge to Rosyth ferry route.
